Hagerty, the country's largest collector car insurer and a lifestyle brand for car enthusiasts, came to us with a problem. Their online publication already housed 8,000 articles and had significantly outgrown its publishing platform. On top of that, the content entry process was ill-suited for their contributors to author stories from around the country.
They needed a new CMS platform that was tailored to their nuanced needs and immense scale.
The broad goal was to set up Wordpress as a customized, enterprise-level publishing tool. And for this re-platform effort to be successful, we needed to deliver on Hagerty's primary objectives.
Automotive journalists are often remote, on site at car shows or press events, and need to publish quickly when news breaks. The content entry process needed to be optimized for mobile devices and accessible without jeopardizing security.
Hundreds of thousands of people receive Hagerty's newsletters, so the new platform needed to handle dramatic traffic spikes on a daily basis.
The content archive is a core piece of Hagerty's online strategy and all 8,000 articles needed to be in place, at the same URLs on the new platform once we launched.
The new platform had to integrate with Hagerty's Vehicle API, allowing content across the site to be cross referenced, powering personalized recommendations, and creating an easy-to-explore experience.
To properly connect to Hagerty's powerful analytics platform, we needed to build custom Wordpress plugins. Accurate data made for better insights and improvements to the site as a whole.
